Lesson 9

Forerunners to the Reformation

As the medieval church grew increasingly corrupt, voices of protest began to cry out against unethical practices and unbiblical traditions. These whistleblowers insisted that Christ alone is the head of the church. Consequently, His Word is the final authority for the church. They held church leaders to that biblical standard, and criticized them when they fell short of it. In this lesson, we look at the forerunners to the 16th-century Reformation, seeing how they set the stage for those who came after them.
